...hosted by bravEd founder John Tanner, is a six module course that introduces anyone interested in rethinking accountability to how that can happen.
Known for his ability to make extraordinarily complicated things understandable, like accountability and standardized testing, completion of the Course places students in a unique position do so something about a decades old problem.
The self-paced course can be completed in 2-3 hours, but it is best to go slow and take advantage of the lessons. It would be ideal for a group of teachers participating in a Professional Learning Community.
At the conclusion of the Course a Certificate is awarded and participants are urged to take the next step in finally getting educational accountability right.
Course Outline
Module 1:Â What it Means to be Accountable. Accountability is the art of being responsible, answerable, and understood. Only in schools has it come to mean something else.
Module 2: Common Shared Vocabularies. Having a common shared vocabulary is the key to being understood by any audience.
Module 3: Types of Accountabilities. Most of us don't realize their re different types of accountability. So here's an important question: what if the wrong one was picked for us? (Note: it was.)
Module 4: Accountability and Leadership. Accountability is a discipline of leadership first, and a policy second. You don't need permission or a policy change to do it well.
Module 5: Testing. Asking standardized tests to judge school effectiveness is like using a fish to pound a nail. Once you see that, knowing what do next becomes clear, even if the policies never ho away.
Module 6: How to Account Like a Pro. I'll share a simple tool that from this day forth can transform how people see you as an educator. You'll start using it the moment you finish the course.
